Tools And Upgrades In Adobe Elements 7
by David Peters on Sep.15, 2009, under Photography
Most computer users are familiar with newer versions of their favorite software program coming on the market. With each new version you are usually guaranteed something new and exciting and this is certainly true with Adobe software programs. A common misbelief is that older versions will no longer work and I am very glad to say that this is completely untrue. Older versions of updated software will continue to perform just as they always did. Unfortunately you will not receive any of the newer features or upgraded support elements unless you update your software.
Adobes first foray into the digitial editing arena was with Photoshop and it soon became apparent to the software developers that they also needed a ?lite? version for those who only wanted photo editing capabilities without all the bells and whistles that accompany Photoshop. Giving into this need they created Photoshop Elements which allows people to easily edit their photos without needing loads of training first.
Ever since the introduction of Adobe Elements there have been more and more versions coming every year and today the latest version of Elements is Adobe Elements 7. Adobe Elements 7 is probably the smartest version of Elements ever. The reason being that Elements software has increased the number of tools making it closely resemble the more professional version of Photoshop which are now being released as the Photoshop CS versions. So with Elements 7 you will be able to edit your photos just as if you had done it professionally with the Photoshop software.
The user-interface, or desktop, is another change which makes the program more user friendly than previous versions. Now, if you are still currently using earlier versions of Adobe Elements you might be wondering what the new features include.
Elements 7 has an organizer which will allow you to label your images so you can easily sort and find them whenever you need them. This is very good for you can be working on some images simultaneously, so the organizer will allow you to sort the images as projects which you can access with ease. Then there is the fix feature. This feature will give you all the most commonly used tools when trying to edit an image. So the common tools you will be readily given will be the smudge, blur and sharpen tool.
The create panel allows you to create items such as calendars, slideshows, etc. Using this feature you can take your image to the create panel and then decide on which project you would like to make. It is an incredible tool for making personalized gifts for friends and family.
For me the most impressive feature on Adobe Elements 7 is the share feature. Using this feature you can share your photo album via the Internet and social networking programs such as MySpace and Facebook. You can also easily share your photos via email or copy them to a DVD/CD.
These are only a few of the amazing new features available in the latest version of Adobe Elements. If you would like to try it out for yourself head out to Adobe?s website for a free 30 day trial.

Homing In On The Newest Adobe Elements Version
by David Peters on Sep.15, 2009, under Photography
When it comes to programs it can be very difficult to decide the best version that suits your needs. With Adobe Elements all the versions are quite effective when it comes to basic editing although which every edition you will find that new features always come in. You will find that in the Elements 6 version you now have an e-mail tab as well as the burn to CD/DVD options. Another change that you will also be able to see in Elements 6 is that the interface has gone through a major refurbishment thus making it less clustered.
The latest version of Elements is 7 packs a powerful punch with its inclusion of features that are typically found in its more professional photo editing counterpart, Adobe Photoshop. Elements 7 includes exciting features such as the auto contrast, auto color, auto smart fix features and smart brush which allows users to edit their photos just like the pros do. The best thing about editing your photos with Elements as opposed to Photoshop is that Elements contains the editing tools you will need without the heavy price tag.
If you are using an earlier version of Adobe Elements you don’t need to rush out and upgrade your software immediately since your program will still do the jobs you have always used it to do. Yet, I would recommend that you do upgrade at some point, especially if you are using Elements version 3 or lower, especially if you do not get left behind in terms of technology. Personally I recommend that you update to version 7 since updating a program is much less expensive than purchasing an entirely new one.
Another advantage to keeping up to date with the latest software versions is that generally newer software contains better help and support tools. Typically when software is updated many users migrate to the newer version and with online support groups users are often willing to discuss their findings on the new software thereby helping you as as a similar user understand it better. If you are thinking of waiting for the next version I recommend keeping an eye on the manufacturers website as they will typically announce a release date and, usually those who purchase in advance will receive a discount on the program. Migrating to a newer version early on is the best policy if you would like to save some money since the price typically goes up after it has been on the market, especially if it is a popular program.
So if you are to ask me which version of Adobe elements you need. I would answer very boldly and say definitely the latest version as it is the smartest pick and not only will you enjoy photo editing in a newer dimension but you will also save lots of dollars in the process.

Fixing Your Photos With Adobe Elements
by David Peters on Sep.14, 2009, under Hobbies
How many of your photos have ended up in the trash bin simply because they appeared to be off center or crooked? Instead of tossing your photos use Adobe Elements to not only straighten them out but crop and do other editing tasks as well. Read further to see how you can use Adobe Elements to fix your photos.
To adjust your lopsided photo you will want to use the measure tool and the crop tool. The measure tool is used to define the level of the photo and then straighten it. You can do this by clicking on the measure tool from the menu and then clicking on the background of your photo then dragging it in a straight line to the other end. This process is basically setting the level of your photo. If you need to adjust other items that should be horizontal, such as roof lines, you can use this tool as well. Your image should now be a bit skewed so you want to click on the rotate canvas option to rotate the image and fix it on the canvas. One thing that should be happening here is that your canvas should be resizing itself to fit your photo size. Lastly you will use the crop tool to remove the extra unwanted edges.
Those opting for the crop tool have the advantage of prompt straightening as this tool offers both the cropping and straightening options at one time. For operating the crop tool, select the crop tool and drag a crop marquee. Position the horizontal edge on the horizontal line to set the level of the image. Again, it could be roof line or an edgy shelf instead of a horizon which needs to be fixed in a perfect horizontal position. Now drag the marquee so that its edge merges with the horizon line. This is done to align the edge to a horizontal position.
After one edge is fixed, repeat the same to align the rest of the edges. However, note that if you want to fix the vertical lines on your image, then, do not align them with vertical borders. You can correct them by using ‘perspective’ option available in the option bar. By selecting the perspective option, you can correct the vertical lines by fixing the corners of the boundary meant to be cropped to the right perspective. Make sure to keep all the corners in the assigned document.
To find the perspective tool you need to activate it by converting the chosen background into a layer by double clicking on the background. Even though we are no longer using film cameras we don’t have to waste our cameras batteries and memory stick with repeated photos. Crooked photos generally happen when the photographer clicks the shutter while keeping the camera straight and looking at the back screen. This has the tendency to distort the photo by making it disproportionate. With these tips you no longer need to take 4-5 of the same shots of the same subject. Rid yourself of tilted photos with the amazing tools included inside Adobe Elements.
