Entertaining Beginner Magic Tricks
Posted by: | CommentsIn watching a wizardry show, one wonders if there are beginner magic tricks that are easier. Have you ever thought about, when watching a wizardry show, the way the person did the trick? The magic tricks you see on the stage are done with the art of illusion and a little bit of acting talent on the magician’s part. Everybody starts at the start just like the rest in life. So there are tricks that are made for the start wizard. The following are tricks are such beginning magic tricks.
The 1st one is named “The Lighting of a second user Match”.The tools required are:candle, matchbox, black coloured ink .This straightforward trick doesn’t need much in the way of tools, often just preparation. Before you perform this trick for your audience, you want to dip the matches in the black ink. This is so that the matches look used. When this has been done, you are prepared. The rest is your acting abilities. A good start is to say to them : “I am now going to light the candle.” Then act like you are surprised to see the used matches instead. Then tell them that you are sorry that all the matches are used ; you can still light the candle using the used matches. Then strike the match. This should wow the onlookers.
The next trick, “The Vanishing Coin” involves the following tools: Coins, table. Not much to work with, right? Wrong, it rests how well you can act and get the audience anticipating the trick. To do the trick, you will place the coin down on the table and then, using your first three fingers, press down on the coin. Meanwhile, you are sliding the coin towards you. When the coin reaches the edge of the table, you need to drop it onto your lap. Meanwhile you need to press your thumb against your fingers as if you are going to pick up the coin. Then raise your now empty hand in the air. When this done, blow on your hand, open the empty hand and allow your audience see the empty hand. This is sure to impress them. This is one of the oldie but goodies of beginner magic tricks that you must have seen many times and wondered how it was done. Now you know.
This trick involves a little practice before performing it. It is called “The Balloon That Won’t Pop.” This trick needs the following: inflated balloon, large needle, transparent tape. To prepare for the trick, you need to place the tape evenly over the balloon so there are no leaks. This is where a bit of practice comes in. You need to be patient and take your time. You need to be as careful as possible rolling the pin into the inflated balloon where you have the tape. This is so the tape keeps the seal on the balloon.
The last one is the “The Amazing Coin Balance.” This one is where a coin stays balanced in the middle of your hand. This one includes the use of : An enormous coin like a half dollar,A pin that’s straight. This one is going to take a little practice before you get the illusion down pat as you wish to keep the pin hid. To start, you remove a coin from the pocket, showing it to your audience. In the meantime, get the spectators going on how you’re going to keep the coin standing up just with the utilization of your consciousness. To start the trick, you must place the coin on your fingertips that are face-up. The pin is hidden under the coin that’s between the fingers.
This is where the practice comes in…Raise both the coin and the pin at the same time so that the coin is standing straight and the pin is supporting the coin using the other hand. When in position, remove the other hand leaving the coin “standing on its edge.” It seems awesome right, yeah you do this beginner magic tricks with some practice. Every one starts at the beginning just as with everything else in life. Although the above tricks don’t seem like beginner magic tricks, they are. They just practice to pull them off with ease.
China Tea Sets Known As Famille Rose
Posted by: | CommentsBack in the old days, Europeans had a fever for Chinese tea sets. These great items from thousands of miles away had qualities that no one had ever seen or could duplicate. The price for fine china tea sets was quite high, but it was well worth it for those who had money. The colors and material fascinated almost everyone who saw them.
Suddenly, a new kind of porcelain china tea set was made in Jingdezhen, and merchants set off almost immediately. This was the last 1720s, and there was still a huge market for these items back home, especially if it was something new.
What was this new Chinese tea set? Famille rose, one of the most colorful varieties of Chinese porcelain.
When compared to earlier porcelain, Famille Rose was remarkable for how many colors it incorporated. Making such vibrant colors required much more sophisticated techniques. Painters applied their skills to these tea sets, and potters had to come up with new ways of firing the porcelain so as not to damage the delicate color pigments. The result was truly remarkable.
No wonder Emperor Kangxi, a big time Famille Rose lover, dispatched the best imperial painters to make batch of Famille Rose porcelain that was used to decorate his study.
But the truth is, there was much more to this porcelain than what happened in China. Not many people know it, but Europe had some monumental contributions as well.
Where did the color come from? Some scholars say enamels were introduced into China by Jesuit missionaries. This could explain why there were no such colors before the 18th century.
But that’s not all, because the pigments had to continuously come from abroad for many years. The Chinese didn’t actually know how to make those colors themselves, so they had to rely on importing it from Europe.
After the first batch of Famille Rose porcelain hit European markets, Europeans simply couldnt get enough of it. The import of this beautiful porcelain survives to this day. Today, an exquisite antique Famille Rose china tea set runs millions of dollars as collectors compete with each other at auctions.

UFC 92 Flashback: Mir Scores Knockout Win Over ‘Big Nog’
Posted by: | CommentsTwo titles changed hands at UFC 92, with Rashad Evans defeating Forrest Griffin by TKO to win the light heavyweight title and Frank Mir knocking out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira to claim the UFC interim heavyweight title.
While nominally taking subordinate status to the Evans/Griffin main event the most shocking result by far was Frank Mirs second round TKO stoppage of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Nogueira was the overwhelming favorite coming into the fight and had never been stopped inside the distance during a career where hed faced the best of the best: Fedor Emelianenko (three times), Josh Barnett (twice), Semmy Schilt and Mirko Cro Cop among many others.
Mir, meanwhile, had been on the verge of a full time move to the broadcast booth before his victory over WWE superstar turned MMA fighter Brock Lesnar. The conventional wisdom concerning Mir was that hed never fully recovered from a serious motorcycle accident in 2004. He eventually returned to the octagon, and after two TKO losses in his first three comeback fights began to consider the possibility that he just didnt have it any more.
Always a quick witted and highly cerebral fighter, Mir had been very impressive with his commentary work on WEC broadcasts. A highly respected BJJ black belt, his knowledge of submission technique was legendary but in his broadcast role also displayed not only tremendous poise behind the mic but the sort of innate ability to see the fight several moves ahead of the competitors”the same ability displayed by the legendary Bas Rutten in his broadcasting work. When the fight against Brock Lesnar was signed, the perception among most fans was that Mir was a high profile setup for the former WWE champ”a big name on the downside of his career that would be physically overwhelmed by the strength and athleticism of his opponent. The expectation was that after a one-sided loss to Lesnar that Mir would transition into the next phase of his career as a broadcaster.
For the first minute of the fight, it looked like the above scenario was going to play out”Lesnar manhandled Mir from the opening horn, taking him down and landing punishing hammer fists on the ground. That was rendered irrelevant, however, when Lesnar made a rookie mistake and dangled his leg in easy reach of the BJJ blackbelt. Mir locked in a deep knee bar and Lesnar was forced to tap.
There would be no such reprieve against Nogueira, according to many pundits, as he was too experienced and too good of a BJJ player in his own right to give Mir any such opportunities for a fluke submission. Mir entered the UFC 92 fight as decided underdog, meaning that oddsmakers and the betting public agreed that he had little chance to prevail in this matchup.
The fight was certainly one-sided, but it was Mir who was in control throughout. From the opening horn he demonstrated surprisingly sharp striking skills, and knocked Nogueira down twice in the first round.
Though Mir appeared in full control of the fight as the second round began, the end would come with startling suddenness and brutality. After a low kick attempt by Nogueira, Mirs counter tagged his opponent and he followed up with a big right hook that sent the Brazilian crashing to the canvas. Herb Dean jumped in to stop the fight almost immediately, awarding Mir an improbable TKO victory at 1:54 seconds of round #2.
In the light heavyweight championship match, Forrest Griffin got off to a good start in his title defense by using his superior height and reach and an impressive array of kicks to keep Rashad Evans just out of range for two full rounds. That changed dramatically in the third, as a flash knockdown by the challenger gave him the opening he needed to mount Griffin and unleash a brutal ground and pound assault. Griffin managed to pull guard and survive for a couple more minutes but it merely delayed the inevitable as Evans ended the fight with another punishing punching attack.
The most highly anticipated match on the undercard also featured a lopsided TKO finish as Quinton Rampage Jackson dominated Wanderlei Silva in the third fight between the two men. It was Jacksons first fight since his well publicized hit and run incident in Orange County, California and he looked very sharp throughout before bringing the contest to a close with a perfectly placed left hook to the cheekbone. Silva immediately collapsed to the canvas and the referee started to step in before he hit the ground.
Collecting Model Railway Trains
Posted by: | CommentsCollecting model railway trains might surprise you as being one of the more popular and satisfying hobbies. Perhaps it’s because model trains offer an appeal to people of just about any age, kids and grownups alike. Whatever the reason, it’s a fact that model trains are becoming more popular each year even though they seem old fashioned to many.
So why do people still manage to have so much fun with model trains, even in the face of opposition from games consoles, computers, virtual worlds and whatnot? It could be because model railways are a great way for kids to physically apply their imagination to something real.
After all, when you create a model railroad layout, you decide how it runs, which trains ride the tracks, whether there are hills, tunnels, crossing, stations or whatever. And when you’ve built it, you get to sit back and watch your work in action. That’s got to be a good feeling.
Plus, as model railway enthusiasts get older there’s much more scope for getting into the nitty gritty details. The model trains you can buy these days are so much more realistic that they used to be and the level of details is incredible. It’s not difficult to spend weeks on a project getting the trains and scenery looking just right.
These days, manufacturers seem to have settled on just a few of the sizes that used to be available, and that’s probably a good thing for the average model train hobbyist. Popular scales range from G – the largest, down to Z which is the smallest. But the most popular of all is now the HO scale.
I always chuckle when I think about where the letters came from. You’d imagine it to be some obscure technical measurement system, devised years ago. But no.. H actually stands for half and stands for ordinary or standard, so the HO scale means it is half the size of the standard scale. I like the simplicity of that. Mind you, there’s no real standard to the standard size, so don’t put too much importance on it.
In the old days, model trains were all hand powered. Enthusiasts still laid out tracks and added all the scenery, but the trains were just pushed by hand. Of course it’s all different these days, and much more fun I have to say. Everything is electrical now, with some systems even being controlled by computers – just like the real thing!
Model railway trains can be enjoyed by absolutely anyone, and I think that’s what I love about them most. You can start as small as you like, and only move into bigger trains and accessories when you want to. Although when the bug bites the limiting factor will probably be your wallet! However seriously you take it though, model trains will provide you with years of enjoyment and reward.
