Think Conferences Are Just About Business?

by AJ Handley on Apr.12, 2010, under Hobbies

Most of us have to attend conferences at some point, for either work or for a personal hobby and they are often informative whilst following a standard pattern. However there are many conferences in the world, which are a little bit different from the norm and here is a roundup of some of the most interesting.

First on the list is the National Pheasant Fest , an American event which is held annually and is a hub for everything pheasant and quail related. It’s organised by Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever and topics addressed include wildlife conservation, hunting & habitat management. Highlights of the 2009 conference were dog training seminars and hunting keynotes, and the 2011 event will be hosted by Omaha, Nebraska.

Pheasants not your thing? Then another American event Cheese-a-Topia may be more your kind of thing. The American Cheese Society’s annual get together is in Seattle this year and the two components which stood out for me are the cheese making workshops and the opportunity to get inside the mind of a cheese consumer, but there are plenty more keynote addresses, seminars and interactive demonstrations to keep all amused.

Sticking with the food based conferences my next, and quite possibly favourite, event is the New Zealand Ice Cream Manufacturers Association Conference. This incorporates the highly coveted Ice Cream Awards and celebrates all that is ice cream related in new Zealand. It also acts as a networking event, and of course a chance to enjoy some delicious ice cream!

No round up of weird or unusual conferences would be complete without mentioning the Weird Paranormal Conference. This annual conference covers all things paranormal and at Weird 10 guest speakers will discuss everything from unexplained sheep attacks to the Loch Ness Monster.

So those are some the unusual and unexpected conferences I have heard of and thats without even getting started on conferences that are held in unusual venues- maybe I’ll write about that at a later date.

Now you’ve learnt about other conferences, letCheshire conference venue Mere take care of the rest of your day. Their Manchester meeting rooms can be adapted for large or small events and they also offer full packages.

Digital Signage — How To Use It Properly

by Susan Edwards on Apr.12, 2010, under Arts & Entertainment

Well, that depends — if you’ve got a message that isn’t always fixed and static, and you need to broadcast it with a sign, then yeah — digital signage is definitely for you. Check out these suggestions on how you can use it properly.

Is Your Business Mobile, or Not Fixed to One Spot?

Let me give you just one example: pretending you’re running a hot dog stand on the street. Most hot dog vendors don’t have a name for their businesses. People who buy the hot dogs just refer to them as “the hot dog guys.” It’s practically universal.

Now pretend you’re that vendor, on the street corner in Manhattan, trying to somehow convey the quality of your dogs over the next guy. How can you convey exactly what you want to say — in order to beat the competition — without a sign? You can try shouting, but not everyone is naturally charismatic enough to win a following that way.

Here’s where installing great LED signage can make a huge difference. It won’t save your life, but it’ll certainly bring in some unexpected business. If you make a strong message that you can adjust with the times, it allows you to convey a little more personality than just the words “hot dogs” or “donair kebab”.

Does Your Cash Flow Vary?

Do you pull your earnings from different sources every week? In other words — do you get fluctuating sources of income across your business’s various outlets?

Look at a bar as a typical example. You’ve got some who put on big concerts and rely on tickets in order to bring in the cash, while others focus 100% on selling drinks, sometimes at a big markup. Even further there are bars that offer free shows in order to sell more drinks.

If your business doesn’t make all its money from just one, fixed, never-changing method, day in and day out, having a sign that can convey a relevant message (depending on the time and place) is practically essential.

Look for an area where a digital signage system can fit perfectly into your business — trust us, it’s already there.

Digital display is a new and creative method to advertise your business. From Club digital signage to Outdoor LED screens – you will find it all online at SimpleDigitalSignage.com.

Where Was Blues Instrumental Music Born?

by Aaron McLain on Apr.12, 2010, under Music

Imagine a world without the blues. An imperfect world made worse. The blues are a way of life, a way to escape, a way to cope. I dare not imagine a world without the blues. Blues instrumental music can set the tone in your home, office or classroom when you need to unwind and get a little mellow. From the deep and moving bass lines to the hypnotic and innovative piano melodies, blues music has mastered the beauty of melancholy. The signature blues sound is recognized all around the world, with or without the accompanying lyrics.

The history of the Blues dates back to the Deep South. African Americans created a style of music. A style based on music they sang in church, at work, and during recreation. This was during the end of the 19th century. Now the blues has evolved. It has grown into what it is today and spawned into other genres like rock and roll.

Instrumental blues music has its own characteristics, its own private way of curing the blues. Blues is dramatic, enchantment, rhythm that allows you to escape reality. The lyrics are depressed, repressed, a dark side of life. The lyrics are a way of expressing misery and woe. Instrumental blues is a way of leaving the lyrics behind and bringing the woe of your emotions to the forefront. It is a way to place the lyrics of your emotions within the music, rid you of the artists interpretation, and claim the music for your own. It inspires, cradles, and holds you in a way that an artists lyrics just cannot do.

Instrumental music is great for office, classroom or other public settings, as it can set a mood without distracting patrons, students and workers from their assignments. Blues instrumental music can help to invigorate your working environment while staying in the background of daily operations.

Blues instrumental music is easy to come by these days and can set the mood in your home or office in an instant. Whether you choose to download tracks or search out old vinyl classics from your local music store, your toes will soon be tapping to some of the most innovative and stylistically appealing music of all time.

The blues can capture what you feel and push it out of you in a way that no other music genre can. Blues are emotions, born through notes, made for an escape from the world around us. Boost Your Online Portfolio Today

by Laurance Campbell on Apr.10, 2010, under Arts & Entertainment

The most productive way to visually articulate a story or article is by employing some kind of illustration. This can be visible in mainstream media everywhere, for example the internet, T.V. and publications. There really are no limitations to the sorts of mediums that can be chosen to create illustrations. The artists who are responsible for this tend to specialise in a unique niche and style, using a particular or favourite medium, like painting, drawing or digital pens.

The majority of illustrators tend to specialise in a particular niche, whether it be computer or traditionally executed. Illustrations are used to enhance and emphasize journals, magazines, stationary, greeting cards, adverts, commercials, T.V shows, books, posters and children’s books, along with a much more commercial projects. Currently, children’s books are one of the most prominent niches and many companies have been set up and established in order to enhance and manage competent artists.

Throughout the past ten years, the digital industry has heavily influenced lots of up and coming designers, illustrators and traditional artists. Wacom tablets can produce miracles with computer programs like Corel Painter, allowing artists to use an easier platform to work from.

A great deal of illustrators learn their talents without any direct training. It comes naturally to most people with their skill developing over time. Far more people now however, are taking college and degree courses in digital illustration to improve their skills, that were not available 15 years ago.

Illustration can be reduced down into more and more sub categories. For example, there are programs in visual communication, fine art, general illustration, animation and graphic design, all of which involve illustrative techniques at some level.

A great way of boost your portfolio, is to interact in some sort of work experience with a locally established business. They should help you to understand how to produce work to your client, hit important work deadlines and maximise your possibilities of obtaining more design jobs.

1000′s of sites are currently being added to the internet daily, and a large range of them rely heavily on illustration of some sort. This is where many illustrators capitalise on work opportunities, by having banners, introductions and other types of imagery.

If you are looking for delightful useful very good good nice nature illustration then browse the PNWorldwide site, it also showsases some nice editorial design.
