Get Helpful Tips About What You Need To Know When Buying A Guitar

by samgreen on Jun.06, 2010, under Music

Discover useful advice about music – The purpose of this article is to inform YOU and others buying their first (or maybe second guitar) about the guitar buying process so you choose the guitar that is PERFECT for you!

RESEARCH

In this day and age there’s vast amounts of resources when it comes to finding product reviews, average price lists and information. The chances are if you’re reading this article then you know how to use Google. You can do all the research you need by using Google alone. Here’s some of the things you should try to find out when comparing guitars.

-Average and Best Prices -User Reviews -Playability -Sound -Quality -Colors available

You should take all the above things into consideration when buying a guitar because they are all things that really matter. User reviews are definitely one of the most useful tools available to the consumer because they give you a real idea of what other people thought of the guitar. The user reviews can often talk about prices and the cost of the item against the quality of the item.

Remember, you’re going to be taking this guitar home, then pouring your soul into it. You wouldn’t want to pour your soul into a trash can would you? Trust me, I’ve seen 100′s of people get so excited about buying a guitar that they forget to look at all of these things, and they might continue to be excited for a few days after the purchase as well. Then what happens? they start to realize that they’ve bought the wrong guitar, their friends tell them that they could have got the model up for the same price, they decide to learn a new style which doesn’t work with the guitar they just bought. Don’t worry about these things, just know that now you’re well informed, you can make the right choices that will lead to you purchasing the perfect guitar for your budget.

INSIDE THE MUSIC STORE

Salesmen… or salespeople as we have to call them now, are there for one reason: TO SELL! I’ve met salespeople who are genuine and really want to give me the best deal they can. Music stores aren’t as bad as car yards though, no where near it. If you do your research before you enter the music store, you’ll know if the salesman is lying or exaggerating. If he appears to be telling the truth then it’s safe to accept advice from him/her.

PATIENCE

It doesn’t finish there though, once you’ve tried a few guitars out with amplifiers similar or the same as the one you’ll be using, then you should go home and do another quick research to answer any unanswered questions. Sleep on it and then see how you feel in the morning. Patience is a virtue and you’ll be rewarded for waiting.

AFTER THE WAIT…

By now you should have decided on a guitar, now head off to the music store and buy your axe!

A few things you might want to consider on the second day are all the extras that you’ll need. Salesmen will do almost anything for a sale and quite often will give you an extra set of strings, picks or leads to seal the deal.

BE BOLD AND STRAIGHT FORWARD WITH THEM!

Tell them you’ll buy the guitar if they can throw in a free lead, pick or strings… or even a case (depending on the price of the guitar). If you’re looking at buying an amplifier on the same day, ask them for a discount or more freebies.

CONCLUSION

I hope you’re more informed than you were before you read this article, the same principle applies to buying anything really.

Friends Season 5 Episodes

by Hank Evans on Jan.07, 2010, under Celebrities

The One After Ross Says Rachel: Despite the fact that Ross said \”Rachel\” in his vows instead of \”Emily,\” they go through with the wedding; but then Emily sneaks out the window at the reception and apparently never wants to see Ross again. Rachel fixates on the fact that \”he said my name!\” Chandler and Monica agree that their new relationship can only continue while they are away from home… but then have a very difficult time arranging to be alone together. While waiting at the airport in hopes that Emily will still show up for the honeymoon to Athens, Ross bumps into Rachel. She encourages him to go to Athens anyway; he invites her to come along. While boarding, Ross goes back to get his jacket and discovers that Emily has arrived and has witnessed the two of them preparing to leave together. Ross misses the flight; Rachel doesn\’t.

The One With The Kips: Chandler and Monica, tired of sneaking around, each make up an excuse to leave town and then go away for a weekend together. They end up fighting the whole time and Chandler\’s afraid it may be over. Ross struggles to reveal his agreement with Emily not to see Rachel anymore. Rachel doesn\’t take it very well; she doesn\’t want to give up Ross, nor get left out of the group like Chandler\’s old roommate, Kip. Joey finds some similarities in Chandler\’s and Monica\’s stories about the weekend, and figures out the truth; Monica and Chandler swear him to secrecy.

The One With All The Thanksgivings: After Thanksgiving dinner at Monica\’s, the gang tells stories about their worst Thanksgivings ever. In a series of flashbacks, we see Chandler learning of his parent\’s divorce (1978); Phoebe losing an arm (twice) in past lives (1862 and\’15); Joey with his head in a turkey (1992); Chandler hurting Monica\’s feelings (1987); and Monica getting a little more revenge than she planned, when Chandler loses a toe (1988).

The One With The Inappropriate Sister: Because of his boredom while away from work, Ross offers to help Joey focus on writing a movie. Things get a little tense, however, when Ross wants Joey to work and Chandler wants to play \’Fireball.\’ Phoebe volunteers to collect Christmas donations for the poor, but ends up getting a bucket full of unwanted \’contributions,\’ so she gets tough with the donors. Monica arranges for Rachel and Danny to go out. It seems to be going very well until Rachel discovers that Danny has an unusually close relationship with his sister, Krista.

The One Where Everybody Finds Out: Ugly Naked Guy puts stuff in boxes (prepares to move), and sublets his apartment. Ross applies, but competition for the place is fierce, so when a bribe doesn\’t seal the deal, Ross decides to cultivate and exploit a common interest–nakedness. Phoebe, while looking at Ross\’ potential new apartment with Rachel, looks out the window and sees Chandler and Monica \”doing it.\” Phoebe and Rachel decide to use their knowledge of this romance to play some practical jokes on Monica and Chandler–jokes which include Phoebe making passes at Chandler. Monica realizes they must know, so she and Chandler play along, and each side tries to see who will crack first. Now everybody knows, except Ross. …Until he gets the apartment, looks out the window, and suddenly has a return of his rage problem.

The One With The Cop: Joey has a dream that Monica is his girlfriend; Monica tells him it just means he wants a relationship with the closeness that he sees between herself and Chandler. She suggests he try being friends with a woman before being intimate. After hitting on Rachel (unsuccessfully), Joey tries to make friends with new women; but they find his \”friends first\” approach so enticing that they want the intimacy immediately. Phoebe finds a police badge under a cushion at the coffee house. She plans to return it but has too much fun pretending to be a cop… until she pulls it on the actual owner of the badge. She drops the badge and runs away; he tracks her down and asks her on a date. Ross buys a new sofa (couch), but can\’t get it up the stairs to his apartment.

The One With The Ride-Along: Ross, Joey, and Chandler go on a ride-along with Gary; thinking a car back-fire is actually a gunshot, Joey dives and protects Ross from harm. Chandler is upset that Joey chose to protect Ross… until he learns that Joey was really trying to protect his sandwich. While getting Margarita fixings as Ross\’ apartment, Rachel overhears Emily–who is getting married the next day–leaving a message, wondering if their break-up was a mistake. Monica and Rachel debate about what to do, and Rachel accidentally erases the message. She stays and waits for Ross to return so she can tell him.

The One In Vegas, Part 2: Ross and Rachel arrive at the casino, where Rachel quickly learns she is \”a human doodle\”. The ink won\’t come off, so she and Ross spend the day hiding in the hotel room, raiding the mini-bar. Once they\’re completely drunk, Rachel finally agrees to go back down to the casino–after she draws on Ross\’ face. Phoebe, playing the slots, is plagued by a lurker: An elderly woman who follows her around, waiting for her to give up a machine that hasn\’t paid out, then takes over and hits the jackpot (a strategy with absolutely no basis in the laws of probability). She decides to out-lurk the lurker; but during a confrontation with her, Phoebe gets thrown out of the casino. Joey tries to persuade his identical hand twin that they should go into show business. He becomes such a nuisance that he gets thrown out, too. Chandler makes a scene to get Monica\’s attention. They make up, and Monica continues her winning streak playing craps. Chandler says if she rolls another hard eight, they\’ll get married. The dice bounce off the table and the roll is disqualified; one die shows a four, the other is on it\’s edge between four and five. Chander decides it\’s a four. They arrive at the wedding chapel and are waiting for the previous service to end, when the chapel doors fly open and out walk the drunken Ross and Rachel, newly married.

Ballet is Art

by Sarah Wilkiamson on Jul.12, 2009, under Arts & Entertainment

Ballet is not only a form of dance, it is an art. Ballet dance is definitely different from the other forms of dance. Ballet dancing is graceful, elegant and beautiful. The pronunciation of the word ballet is “ballay” and the “t” is silent. The word “ballet” means to dance. Ballet is highly technical and it even has its own vocabulary. Ballet is taught throughout the world in ballet schools.

As with many other dance forms, ballet is choreographed rather than danced free. These choreographed routines are known as ballets and encompass not only dancing skills but also acting, musicality and mime. Although some of the music may be vocal, most ballets are performed to classical music.

Renaissance Italy was where ballet dancing first began but it would be France who would take the original dance style and create an entire culture from it. King Louis XIV was instrumental in this, and the world’s first ballet school opened in France in 1661. It’s the French roots that are the reason for most of the ballet vocabulary that’s still used today being. Originally only men were ballet dancers but in 1681 women were also allowed to join in.

Ballet dancers were multi-performers. They didn’t just dance, but they would also recite poetry and sing songs that they may have wrote themselves. Modern ballet contains the dance steps that were created in those early years, and most of these steps still have their French names.

Modern ballet centralizes around 5 basic positions, and this too dates back to Seventeenth century France when a choreographer called Pierre Beauchamp created them. Mastering these basic positions is pivotal to developing the balance and posture required to become a good ballet dancer.

Ballet has become mainstream in countries like Russia, Denmark, France and the United States. Ballet is a worldwide phenomenon. Professional ballet schools are taught in every continent in the world. New York has become the mecca of ballet dancing and it is considered the best on the globe.

Female ballet dancers are known as “ballerinas”. Ballerinas perform dance movements that have to be executed with the use of their toes. This form of dancing is called “en pointe”. A ballerina has to be 12 years of age before she can begin dancing en pointe. Ballerinas wear pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are cushioned with lambs wool or a foam pad. These shoes look like slippers. Ribbons are tied around the ankles and feet, so the shoes can be usable. The shoes are stiff and they have to be cushioned with soft fabric so the dancers do not injure themselves while performing.

At one time a ballet costume was a dress that went down to the ankle. Today’s female ballet dancers wear tutus which give the illusion that the ballerina is floating across the stage.

Danseurs are male ballet dancers and they never dance ‘En Pointe’. As they are usually required to lift a ballerina during the ballets, danseurs have to have a great level of physical fitness.

If you’ve never seen a ballet, then try to get tickets to attend one of the top ballet companies when they perform near you. It’s an experience you’ll never forget. You’ll have to act fast though because those tickets tend to sell out fast!

Things to Know Before Starting Ballet Class

by Sarah Wilkiamson on Jul.04, 2009, under Arts & Entertainment

1. Ballet is all about stretching. It’s used to strengthen muscle groups as well as warm them up ready for dance. The stretching assists in posture and helps to lengthen the body. It’s vital that all ballet dancers participate in a stretching workout prior to beginning the dance element of their class so that injury from stressing unprepared muscles is avoided.

2. All ballet dance steps have a name that you will need to learn. The names are mostly in French but if you repeat each step’s name as you exercise you’ll soon learn them. One way of getting a head start on this is to purchase a ballet dictionary, or print a ballet term glossary off the Internet. Learn each step carefully, making sure that you are following your dance instructor’s instructions. When first starting your class should go at a slower pace so that you get a chance to learn how to do each step properly, but as you become more experienced the pace will get quicker.

3. When you are choosing your ballet slippers, make sure they fit tightly like a glove. Do not have them fit too tight. Your ballet slippers’ drawstring should be tied loose.

4. Don’t even think about skipping the barre work! It might not be your idea of ballet dancing but it’s crucial to preparing your body for the activity ahead. Barre work aids your balance, your flexibility, your posture and of course your strength. All ballet dancers do barre work, so if you want to do ballet – take your place at the barre!

5. Does your ballet school have a strict dress code? You need to find this out before you turn up for your first class! If you wear the wrong type of clothing, even if it’s the wrong color your ballet instructor may not allow you in the room – ballet is very strict on rules! Spare money and embarrassment by doing your homework and ensuring you have exactly the right style and color of ballet clothing that your ballet school requires.

6. Ballet dance style requires certain things from your body and if you take different types of dance class you could find that you aren’t able to separate out the various poses and movements. Ballet beginners should at least have some basic ballet steps and posture requirements perfect before they participate in less formal dance styles.

7. Ballet is a very formal dance form. It is very strict about using the correct etiquette at all times. You will learn this as you learn your ballet steps, but if in doubt, always follow what your ballet teacher tells you. Even the best ballet dancers in the world respect and follow their ballet teacher’s advice.
